En rolig dag i New York / A funny day in New York
Idag var vi på besök i Svenska Kyrkan i New York där vi fick en pratstund med både anställda och svenskar som bor i New York. I deras kaffeteria fanns svenskt kaffe, kanelbullar, Singoalla kakor och min favoritgodispåse Ahlgrens Bilar. Man blir väldigt svensk när man hittar detta långt hemifrån utanför landets gränser.
Today we went to visit the Swedish Church in New York where we had a chat with both employees and Swedes who lives in New York. In their coffee shop was Swedish coffee, cinnamon buns, Singoalla cakes and my favorit candy Ahlgrens Cars. You become very Swedish when you find this far from your home country.

Med tunnelbanan tog vi oss till Brooklyn och deras bibliotek för att titta på mickrofilmade tidningar från den tid då svenskarna bodde här. Den lokal Brooklyn Daily Eagle och New York Times var vi mest intresserade av. Vi kommer att göra en utförligare presentation om detta besök i DIS medlemstidning Diskulogen.

Även i kväll tog vi taxi tillbaka till hotellet för det hann bli mörk innan vi var färdiga med besöket i New York för den här gången. Av någon konstig anledning så kunde inte våra taxichaufförer som vi hade både igår och idag hitta vägen ända fram. Idag var vi själva lite säkrare på att hitta rätt så vi fick hjälpa till med vägbeskrivning. När taxiföraren ringde till hotellet för att få reda på avfarten fick Charlotte ta över hans mobiltelefon för att tolka mellan hotelpersonalen och chauffören som var japan.
Förutom att hjälpa till med släktforskning kan vi nu mera också hjälpa till med att tolka engelskan för japanska taxichaufförer i New York.
Also tonight, we took a taxi back to the hotel for it had been dark before we were finished with the visit to New York for this time. For some strange reason wasn't had our taxi drivers yesterday and today knowledge how toget to our hotel. Today we were ourself a bit more confident about finding the right way so we had to help with directions. When the taxi driver phoned the hotel to find out the exit name or number Charlotte had to take over his cell phone to translate between hotel staff and driver who was Japanese.
In addition to help with genealogy, we can now also add that we can help the Japanese taxi drivers in New York to translate driving direktions made by an American.
